What film would you recommend that has minimal/the smallest amount of grain?
The higher the number, i.e 3200, the more grain it's going to have. The ISO indicates how fast the film will absorb the light (good things take time). The smaller the number, i.e 100 iso, the longer it will take to absorb the light and the finer the grain. Some films are specifically designed for fine grain, Kodak Ektar clams to have the 'world's finest grain'.
Also, the way your film is scanned and developed can affect the grain.
When sending your film in or bringing it into the lab, leave us an order note or request to have all sharpening turned off when scanning, as that can also give it a grainy appearance.
I just brought my first film camera what film should I buy?
Some great low cost test films are; Fujifilm C200, Fujifilm Supria 400, Kodak Ultramax 400 and Kodak Gold 200
Are you shooting on a sunny day? Then we recommend a 200ISO speed film. It's then just a question of whether you want a neutral colour pallet of C200 or the warmer colours of Kodak Gold 200.
If shooting on a lower light day, or indoors in a well lit room, you may want to get a 400ISO film. Fujifilm Superia's colour pallet favours green shadows and has an overall cooler temperature. Kodak Ultramax has a warmer pallet, favouring red shadows and soft darks.
Although every film has it's own unique colour pallet, keep in mind every part of the process will effect the end result of colours; from the lens, temperature of film, expiry date, how the film was stored, the development, the scanner used and the exposure.

How long will it take to receive my film back?
This all depends on the service you have selected to send your film to us. Typically, most courier services take 1-3 working days. If you have sent it via standard post, this can take up to a week (during the busy season even longer).
Once we have received your film we will process it ASAP normally it's completed the day we have received it.
If you have selected 'online transfer' you will receive the files that day.
If you have selected them to be shipped back, our courier service, Pass the Parcel, takes 1-3 working days to return.
Why are some of my photos missing?
Here at Camera House we scan every frame, unless its completely black. After we scan your film we will email you with a brief description on how your film came out and the number of frames you will receive back I.E. 22 of your 24 frames came out, a few shots were very dark due to the flash not being used.
